Help us send Iowa advocates to the 9th Nuestras Voces National Bilingual Sexual Assault Conference. Due to significant budget cuts during previous legislative sessions, many programs don't have funds for advocates to attend out-of-state conferences to help them learn and grow.
Can you help?
IowaCASA strongly believes in the value of training for advocates to help improve the services and responses available to sexual assault survivors. That’s why we are hosting this donation page where you can help us send bilingual advocates in Iowa to the 9th Annual Nuestras Voces (Our Voices) National Bilingual Sexual Assault Conference!
Traditionally, Iowa bilingual advocates have made up a large contingency of this conference and we want to keep that going. Latinx advocates and allies from across the nation, Mexico, and the Caribbean have helped define this unique and empowering training experience by sharing their expertise as presenters, and by supporting the conference planning process as volunteers. There is simply no other conference like it, and we want as many advocates as possible to be able to attend!
Registration for the conference is $250 per person in addition to travel expenses. Are you able to sponsor an advocate? Can you help us pay travel or hotel costs? Donations to IowaCASA will be used to fund scholarships for advocates to attend the conference. Any amount can help, no matter how big or small.
The conference takes place next year May 2 – 3 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It’s hosted by Arte Sana (Art Heals), a national Latina-led nonprofit committed to ending sexual violence and other forms of gender-based aggressions and engage marginalized communities as agents of change. Founded in 2001, Arte Sana promotes capacity building, awareness, healing, and empowerment through bilingual professional training, community education, and the arts.
